Rebel Music

I believe in the power of music to move and motivate people. Here's to thinking critically about the society that we live in today, and asking ourselves if it's the kind of society that we want our children to grow up in.

  1. I agree with a lot of the things you said. I don't want to be a couch protestor, especially because I agree with the purpose of the movement and their is validity for majority of the grievances. However, this movement is much different from the movements of the 1960's that highlighted less of the purpose behind the movement and instead moved with plans of how to fix their grievances. They were afraid of what it would do to them personally or economically but they took the steps anyway to fight the political system. Idk if no knows how to fight the system in a way that will fix this or whether we are all just too comfortable to do so. Are we not yet morally drawn or physically harmed enough by poverty to get active? In a sense, Occupy feels like the preliminary movement, and we're just waiting for the pivotal event or next brilliant mind to spark the doctrine or plan behind a economic revolution. The book The Globalization Paradox is the closest thing I've seen to beginning to fix the economy but it's heavily flawed and it's a combo of leftist and statist beliefs.I guess I feel like the most I can do right now is get educated, stay involved and keep researching. What more would you suggest Occupy supporters do?

  2. I do not know what the Occupy protestors should do lol

I agree with a lot of what they are doing but this is meant to be a critical analysis of what I have seen and my knowledge of revolutionary movements. Apart from what I wrote in the essay, I think that Occupiers should be thinking about the next step in the movement. Leaders should emerge from these occupations and come up with the next step in coming up with a formal plan of how to accomplish their goals. Thanks for your thoughts :)
